Jackie confirmed as a guest at Comic Con

Target419 brings the goods again:

Warner Bros. has announced the guests who will be present for the Human Target panel at Comic-Con.

Expect to see cast members Mark Valley, Chi McBride, Jackie Earle Haley, and more.

And confirming what had been reported earlier this month:

Warner Bros. has confirmed that not only will the Human Target pilot be screened at the panel scheduled for Saturday, July 25 from 4:45-5:45PM…. the pilot episode will also be previewed on Wednesday, July 22 during a “WB Pilot Preview Night” which will also include the pilot episodes for V and The Vampire Diaries.

Unfortunately, tickets for Comic-Con are sold out, but as we said before, you can expect full updates (and reviews) at Target419!

So, Watchmen on the 21st, Human Target on the 22nd… July is shaping up to be a pretty good month for JEH fans.

Watchmen Director’s Cut News!

On this news article(s) posted at Collider.com, Zack Snyder gives some more details about the Watchmen Director’s cut. This was at a Blu-ray presentation at Warner Bros. in Burbank to help promote “Watchmen: The Director’s Cut” and “300″ on Blu-ray.

First, he tells us that the Director’s Cut will be screened in select theaters “the weekend before Comic-Con in Los Angeles, Dallas, Minneapolis, and New York.” It will show for one weekend on one theater.  Link with video. Apparently they made a “new poster” to promote the release, which I’m hoping isn’t exactly like the one sitting behind him.

Much love for the Blu-Ray from the interviewer:

The great thing about the discs is the choices you have. If you just want to watch the movies, they look amazing. But if you’re curious how the movies were made or what went on behind the scenes, both Blu-ray’s are filled with extras and interactive choices. The way they’ve set up the discs is as you watch them you can pick different options and they’ll either pop-up as the movie continues to play, or it’ll bring you to another section of the movie. The best part is when you’re done watching, you’re back at the exact point you left.

Based on what I saw, fans of both movies are going to have a geekgasm.

Now, the extras have already been discussed at length everywhere, so here is the other interesting bit of news:

The big news about this year’s Comic-Con is Zack is going to be showing the director’s cut of “Watchmen” and people who own the Blu-ray will be able to watch at home and have an interactive experience. That’s because people will be able to ask questions through their Blu-ray player, so if you aren’t going to the convention, this is your chance to participate.

Which has me thinking Blu-Ray sounds better and better and every day. Another interesting tip: apparently the Ultimate Edition that will be coming out on December will be basically this cut of the movie plus the scenes with the Bernies and Black Freighter spliced in.

  • Comic-Con plans – he’s planning on hosting an interactive screening where everyone can watch at home and interact with him at Comic-Con
  • He talks about what’s great about the Blu-ray’s of Watchmen and 300
  • Talks about some of the deleted scenes that are on the Blu-ray
  • Talks about the other Watchmen Blu-ray that’s coming out in December.

Nightmare: Interview with Kyle Gallner

NIGHTMAREREMAKEGALLNERTHUMBFangoria.com posts and interview with Kyle Gallner, from The Haunting in Connecticut, who is playing Quentin, the equivalent of Johnny Depp’s role as Nancy’s boyfriend in the original Nightmare on Elm Street.

Gallner says: “It’s a very different role in a very different movie from Haunting. I show up to work one day, and all of a sudden I’m face to face with Freddy Krueger and running for my life. It’s a cool experience.”

I’m quoting the bit that is most relevant to us:

The key makeup effect, of course, is Freddy himself, played by WATCHMEN’s Jackie Earle Haley, whom Gallner describes as “great, and a really nice guy” off camera. “It’s kind of funny to be hanging out on set, he’s sitting in his chair in his Freddy face and we’re chitchatting away, and then you get on set and all of a sudden he turns it on. As soon as he does that, he’s a completely different animal, and it’s genuinely creepy to do scenes with him. There was one scene I did with him the other night where we were just face to face, and it was pretty unnerving. I actually got creeped out. His makeup looks terrific; it’s definitely Freddy.

And for those who were worried about how Freddy would be in the remake:

Gallner adds that this Krueger will hark back to the sinister, straight-faced monster he began as, rather than the jokester he became in the later sequels. “It’s played a little straighter,” the actor says. “I mean, there are still going to be some throwbacks to the other films—you’ve gotta keep a couple of the one-liners—but for the most part, it’s going to be a little more real, a little more raw. I believe it’ll be more disturbing than the original.

Nightmare on Elm Street [Kellan Lutz interview]

Apparently, since people caught wind that one of the Twilight kids was starring in the new Nightmare on Elm Street, most of the news are focusing on him. I only post this because of the direct mention of Jackie (bolded, for your enjoyment) and because I AM excited about the movie.

The source is MTV Movie Blogs… I’m sorry.

We have complicated tastes here at the MTV Movies Blog. While it’s easy to find a horror website devoted to all things Freddy Krueger, or a Twilighter site breathlessly counting down the days to “New Moon,” you might not see that chocolate-and-peanut-butter combination crossing paths very often in a single place.

“I’m shooting ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ right now,” Kellan told us recently. “Which, for me, is one of the scariest thriller-type movies I grew up watching.”

As the Twilighters know, Emmett Cullen is a pretty tough dude -– and Lutz is no slouch himself. So, although the actor seems destined to be another of Freddy’s ill-fated teens, we’re hoping he’ll at least put up a pretty good fight.

[...]

“It’s very similar to [the original], but with new characters,” Lutz explained, assuring us that he’s not stepping into the role originated by Johnny Depp or anything. “It’s a lot of fun, and it’s actually pretty spooky to be on the set, on location seeing what we’re working with… you walk into these locations and it’s like, you’ve gotta watch your back.”

“It’s a really great cast, and the script is great,” Lutz said of the film, which hits theaters next April and stars Jackie Earle Haley as the new Freddy Kreuger. “It’s been great working with Jackie and Thomas [Dekker] and Katie [Cassidy] and Rooney [Mara], and Jackie is a really nice guy — but he’s gonna do a great job doing Freddy.”

Twilighters: Are you ready to see Kellan in a bloody horror flick? Horror fans: Are you cool with having a “Twilight” heartthrob in your Freddy movie?

I think we’ll have to reserve judgment on that untill the movie opens, MTV- but from the comments there I don’t think the Twilighters mind at all.
