From Brad Fuller’s blog, Paltinum Dunes.
“I can promise you this- every single person from the execs at New Line to the PA’s care very passionately about Nightmare on Elm Street. While we often get assaulted for simply doing this for the money, I can assure you there are easier films to make with less downside and far less scrutiny. But I come to this incredibly optimistic. Sam Bayer continues to impress me everyday with his passion for telling this story in a visual style that will blow you away. Our script gets better all the time, and things that were discussed and hated here are no longer a part of the story. I am happy to report that pod casting is gone. But part of that script evolution is due to the level of actors we have attracted. From Jackie, to Thomas, Kyle, Rooney, Kellen, Katie to Clancy we have held the highest standards to bring you the best actors. And they are all huge fans.” Source
“It should come as no surprise then that Jackie Earle Haley is playing Freddy Krueger. He was the only person we ever considered for the role. He was BD’s first choice and there were many times during the negotiation that I came here and just looked at the fans casting ideas and realized that he was ONLY person who could play the role. We can’t make all the fans happy, but those of you who are open to a new version of the Nightmare story have to be as excited as we are. Come on people, an Academy Award Nominated actor is playing Krueger. This was no small accomplishment, but everyone involved wanted it to happen. We all know that Jackie is an unbelievable actor, but I want to let you in on something you might not know. Sam, Drew and I had drinks with Jackie and were elated to learn that he is just like us. He is a huge fan of horror, and well aware of the rightful place Freddy Krueger holds in the horror pantheon. Quite simply, he knows what he has to do, and is very up to the task.” Source
JEHF.com has had many changes in the past few days. Some of them you can already see: A new front page that’s way better suited to display all of the latest news regarding Jackie and his projects, and you can guess the community is still not up. It will be soon, and it will have a lot more features than it used to. We’re still working on it, but don’t worry, all this down time will be worth it.
Those of you who had already registered before the downtime will be receiving an email soon with a new password to access the new community. You’ll have a special premiere before anyone else, I suppose.

JoBlo.com claims this is the first picture of Jackie as Freddy, sans make up- some sort of flashback scene. I… think we should take their word for it?
The scene that was being shot must have been a flashback sequence in which Krueger sans make-up (or killer blades on his fingers) is playing with some pre-school kids at the Badham pre-school. Note how the color of his shirt is different than in previous ELM STREET flicks (brown/beige versus green/red) and the white picket fence. Classic.
The scene apparently featured Freddy playing hide and seek with the kids in the playground (nice), as they stole his hat and gloves. Every now and again, he’d pick up a gardening tool with his right hand and chase the kids around (wink, wink). Oh Freddy!! According to [pictures source], Mr. Haley was a class act on the set and super-nice with all the kids when they weren’t shooting the scenes. In fact, he was nice with the kids during the scene as well, so this scene was likely part of his “origin”.
